For the 41st year, the annual Benalmadena Living Bethlehem will be presented in Los Limones Park. It is a beautiful tradition of Benalmadena Pueblo, where more than 50 residents volunteer to perform musical pieces, dressed in attires of the times, and re-enacting Nativity.

Malaga gets new bridge for the Coastal Path project
The new bridge over the Guadalhorce river is arriving on site to be installed by the end of December 2019. It will be Europe’s longest structure of this type with 270 metres in length, 4.3 metres in width, distributed over 6 spans. It will sit 11 metres above the riverbed, completing another section of the Costa del Sol walkway project.
Modern hybrid buses for Malaga
Malaga’s mayor announced that 5 new buses will soon be in circulation. In the last 3 years, 58 new buses have been incorporated, some electric-petrol hybrids, with photovoltaic panels on the roof, low consumption LED lighting and modern interior comforts.
Sotogrande carol singing choir
The Camerata Sotogrande choir will be taking part in a festival of carol singing on Tuesday 10th December, starting at 7:30pm at Merced church in Sotogrande. Entry is free and donations are welcome. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available after the service.
BMX show in Fuengirola
A show of the top BMX riders from Spain and Europe will be in Fuengirola on December 14th. The annual show will take place at the Skate Plaza Ignacio Echevarria, from 10 in the morning to 11 at night. There will be prizes for the winners of each category.
San Pedro aiming to increase its green spaces
San Pedro de Alcantara will aim to plant an additional 311 trees inside the town’s public spaces. The budget for the effort is 100,000 euros and is expected to take six weeks.
Estepona brings in accessible traffic lights
The Estepona council has installed remote-activated devices at the town’s main pedestrian crossings, which allow the blind to know when the lights are green. The project was carried out with the assistance of ONCE (the Spanish organisation for the blind), which provided the remote devices.
Ruins unearthed by Malaga metro are largest archeological site in Spain
The excavations along the route of the new Malaga metro tunnel extension cover 4000 square metres and include remains of old Moorish houses and defensive works. They span 8 centuries of history, from 11th to 19th century AD. The most important artefacts and areas will be preserved and put on display.
Abandoned building to become modern shopping centre in Benalmadena
Since closing in 2011, the building which housed the Unicaja Marymar old people’s home in Benalmadena Costa, had fallen into disrepair and closed down. Now the town mayor has formed agreements to turn it into a leisure space with shops and restaurants, in an EU-funded initiative.
Malaga province sees biggest property price increase in Spain
The Malaga area, including the Costa del Sol, has seen the biggest increase in the price of housing in the country at 7.9% over the last year. The rise is being attributed to an influx of more residential tourists looking to buy a second home on the Costa del Sol.
